For Anyone in Athens: Opening Tomorrow

For anyone in Athens, the exhibition Pinned, Stitched and Glitzed: Challenging the Gender Stereotype will open tomorrow at Art Appel Gallery. Curated by Thalia Vrachopoulos, this exhibition is a continuation of the original with the same title shown in New York in 2015.

The exhibition will show meticulous textile works by nine artists of varying cultural backgrounds. All works address the concept of gender, not as it is expressed by the individual, but rather as it is developed from a young age. The exhibition seeks to draw attention to and question those notions that become embedded within a person from a young age that come to define how they understand, embody and express gender.

Artists showing works in the exhibition are:
Eozen Agopian
Artemis Alcalay
Yiannis Christakos
Ran Hwang
Maria Karametou
Renee Magnanti
Nicholas Moore
Bill Pangburn and
Konstantinos Stamatiou
